His first five customers are the most difficult to
get. Make it easy and start telling everyone that you and your work know what
you want to do. Many volunteers found his first customers in their former
employers!
Advertising does not work for virtual assistants;
focus on networking and mouth propaganda instead. They tell the people you are
taken with a big pinch of salt great, but someone that your new customer
respected and trusted can really recommend is worth its weight in gold. Think
about how you got your hairdresser - you asked your friends, right?
Have at least 6 months living costs in the bank and
pay all your credit cards before you start. It takes time to build a business
and does not want to be drawn into long hours of work at a low rate because you
need to make the payment of the mortgage.
Be realistic about your abilities. Do not take on
the work you are not qualified or experienced.
Time is money for virtual assistants - no time to
steal from their colleague volunteers pretending to be a customer. Most
volunteers are very open to helping beginners as they are honest with them.
Do what you say you do when you said you would. In
other words, make sure you achieve this without long term. VA gives everyone a
bad reputation when you do not deliver the goods.
There is the research out there, your business plan
on the market. The annual VA VA survey is a great place to start: https://www.staff-india.com/
Keep in mind that you cannot just compete with other VA work for its clients
but call centers.
Get used to motivate. Find the tasks you can do as
unintentionally as practical. Most volunteers work alone and it can be
difficult for someone who is used to a desktop environment.
